🌧 Rainy Day Soap-Making
There’s something magical about a rainy weekend—the soft rhythm of raindrops on the windows, warm mugs of tea, and the perfect excuse to slow down and make something with your hands.
Last weekend, we spent a cozy day indoors making our very own natural botanical soaps, and it was such a fun (and surprisingly easy) project that we had to share.
🧼 What We Used
This craft is perfect for little hands and beginner soap makers. We kept it simple:
Microwaveable Shea Butter Soap Base
(Comes in blocks—no lye, no complicated steps.)Pure Essential Oils
We did pink grapefruit but love these essential oils and mixing up our own recipe.Silicone Molds
We opted for these simple rectangle shapes so we could decorate!Dried Botanicals
We sprinkled in some dried rose petals, calendula, and lavender buds to make each bar extra pretty.
🧪 How We Made Them
Chop the soap base into small chunks and microwave in a heat-safe container until fully melted (about 30 seconds at a time, stirring in between).
Add essential oils—a few drops go a long way. Mix well.
Pour into your molds, filling about Âľ of the way.
Sprinkle dried flowers on top
Let the soaps cool and harden—about 2 hours at room temperature or 30 minutes in the fridge.
Pop them out and admire your work!
đź’› Why We Loved This
This little project checks all the boxes: it’s tactile, smells amazing, and gives you a beautiful finished product you can actually use (or gift!). We loved deciding which flowers to use for each soap, and it sparked so much fun conversation about scents, plants, and making things by hand.
🛍 Want to Try It?
We linked all of the ingredients and supplies we used above so you can recreate this project at home. It would make a sweet gift idea for holidays, teacher gifts, or just something special to do on a slow weekend. Tag us #roenmi #roenmistudio if you make these :)
